Anger & Fear

 

Anger:

There are two types of anger. There is Positive Anger which comes when a wrong is done to you or others. This type of anger is righteous anger and goads us to do something that will make things right. So here, anger is constructive. Its aim is not harm or destruction but comes from a caring feeling where the intention is to set things right.

The second type of anger is rage; that which causes harm or injury to others. This is the negative type of anger which is destructive. Every time we produce an angry Thought, Word or Deed, we are releasing negative energy into the atmosphere. This negative energy accumulates as more and more people emanate such rage and hatred. Just as, at times, some physical cells in our body turn into rogue cells and grow uncontrollably to form what we call cancer, so also the negative energies of anger and fear accumulate together and form a kind of invisible cancer (or a negative bank) in the world. This unseen cancer lies untapped in the world until something or someone acts as a catalyst or trigger and sets off a terrible disaster upon the earth either in the form of natural calamities or man-made disasters.

The best way to handle negative anger is not to react to it. Instead, find a Response. We have been conditioned from childhood to react to all situations, which comes from blame being apportioned to another, whereas a "response" comes from a sense of responsibility. Consequently, when confronted with an unpleasant situation or person, we should wait a few minutes so as to disconnect from the mind which is in a state of anger. Then using the love and understanding within us, we respond in a fitting manner. It will not be easy at first, but with practice and effort, one day we will be able to respond to anger instead of reacting. That is the day we will have started our journey on a higher path-way.

 

Fear:

The opposite of love is not hate but fear. Fear has tremendous negative energy. All other feelings such as anger, greed, jealousy, hatred etc. arise out of the feeling of Fear. Therefore, every time a jealous or angry thought arises in the mind, every time harsh cruel words are spoken or a violent deed is carried out, it is FEAR THAT WINS. The only way to defeat fear and break the chain of negativity is to replace fear with Love.

How do we do this? Whenever you are confronted with a person causing the negative feelings, do not shout or abuse the person; instead cover the person with the Light of Love. Then silently thank the person for giving you the opportunity to exercise your love. To start with, try this a few times in a day and gradually it will become a habit.
