“The Mind is its own place, Can make a Heaven of Hell and a Hell of Heaven."
First and foremost you need to know what the mind is. You have a brain, which is physical. The mind is not tangible. The mind tells you what to do when you are linked with your Higher Self. The function of the mind is to look around and help you see the TRUTH. The mind studies and determines what is right and not right. ‘Not right’ does not mean evil or wrong. There is no evil. What you think is wrong may be wrong for you, but right or even essential for another.
The mind keeps working all the time and need to be directed to a useful purpose. Try to still the mind and keep it silent. It is in the production of thoughts that the mind presides. Silence can not be brought about without conscious effort. It comes with practice when thoughts are observed …and only the mind can do that.
A man may have to go through the experience of lying, cheating, dishonesty or even murder to LEARN from the experience, so do not judge. Merely tell him what you have learnt and experienced giving him the full liberty to reject your views. Every person has the right to hold onto to his own truth, even if that truth is diametrically opposite to your own.
The mind, when in touch with your Higher Self, tells you what you need to do, but it is in conflict due to the conditioning it has received from the 'truths' as stated by parents, society and religious teachings. The mind has been beaten, dented, bent out of shape and cracked, and so thinks that the only way to act and think and behave is to adhere to public opinion.
The mind is vagrant and has to be brought to a fixed point. A conditioned mind is a barrier because it is structured in time and cannot understand that which is timeless and spaceless. Read and listen to all the ‘truths’ offered to you by others with an 'open mind' and then accept only that which is right for you and feels right to you. A clear mind through a process of understanding will be able to answer your questions when you are at a crossroads.
A young child is not controlled by the mind because it has not yet been conditioned by others and also because the link between the soul and Higher Soul is at its optimum. At his stage the soul masters the mind.
The purpose of coming to earth is to experience all so that from this wisdom the physicality of body and mind can be overcome, freeing the soul from these restraints. For this growth a vital path followed is from ‘Not I’ to ‘I’, to experience that which spirit is not, so that the wisdom of what spirit is dawns upon you. |
