Guru Nanak: (through Ellaeenah)
Nanak ke Aashirwad.
Mere pran mein tu basa hain, tere pran mein mei
phir pran pran ka antar kahan hai,
bol shishu
(You live in my breath, I live in yours
Then where is the difference between you and, little one?)
kya tera hriday mera hriday sey kum hai?
kya tera hriday kuch chhota?
jab tera hriday mera hee hriday hai, to antar kahan hai?
Shishu, tu bata!
(Is your heart smaller than my own?
When your heart is my heart, then where is the difference, little one?)
tu yahan hai, mai bhi yahan hoon.
par tu soya aur mai jaga.
itna hee to antar hain na?
ey, bata mere shishu .
(You are here, I am here, too.
But you are asleep, while I am awake;
Is that not the only difference?
Tell me, little one.)
kyu nanaak ki zuban tu nahi bolta?
kyu nanak ka shabd tu nahi sunta?
jo nanak tere hath mein hath hi dalta,
to anatr kya hai?
Shishu bata.
(Why do you not speak Nanak’s tongue?
Why do you not heed Nanak’s words?
When Nanak places his hand into your own
Where is the difference?
Tell me little one.)
tune hriday ko ek pinjara banaya,
aur yeh pinjare ko sunhera rung .
per pinjare key ander chidiya tadapti,
ye hantar kyu hai?
Ey, bata shishu.
(You have made your heart into a cage
And this cage has a golden colour
But within cage a little bird gasps for breath.
Why is there this difference?
Tell me little one.)
yahan hai guru aur yahan shishya.
to kyon tu gurukul mein ata nahi?
kabhi kabhi nanak thak jata hey,
magar kabhi bhi hriday bund karta nahi.
(Here is the master and here the pupil, too
Then why do you not come to the master’s abode?
Sometimes Nanak tires
But never does he shut his heart from you. )
tera pinjara bund hey shishu.
sunhera ho toh kya hua.
bund pinjare mein jiyega tu kayse?
jub pinjare ke ander kuch nahi hava.
(Your cage is shut tight, little one.
So what if it is a golden cage?
How will you live in a golden cage
When within it there is air to breathe?)
yeh pinjara khol de,
aur neeley gagan mey pankh khol de.
phir dekh, nanak aur tere mein antar kahan hai,
ey, shishu.
(Open up this cage
And spread your wings in the bright blue sky.
Then you will see that
There is no difference between Nanak and you
Little one.) |
