How often we have asked ‘what is ascension? When will humanity ascend?’ I wonder what answer we expected. Maybe this is a good moment to ponder over what ascension means to each of us.

Ascension has often been spoken of by spiritual teachers and books as a process that is so esoteric, that it seems almost out of our physical reach.  We begin to believe that this is a something that a very few can achieve... maybe those who are vegetarian, those who meditate, those who pray, those who live good lives, those who heal, those who are selfless and charitable. Certainly not us….we, who are judgmental and biased and egoistic and selfish and dishonest and…..no, certainly not us!!!
And because intrinsically we believe this to be true, we are not even aware that we have already attained that state of ascension.

For what is ascension? It is a state of Beingness when we hold the Power of the Universe within every cell of our beings… and KNOW THAT THIS IS SO. Ascension is not escaping from being who we are… ascension is not a process outside the purview of our daily lives….ascension is not suppression of our nature or the denial of our personality. Ascension is the movement from being led to leading, from being dependant to being co-dependant, from looking out to going in, from asking to answering, from external quest to inner sight.

2007 has already witnessed this joyous shift… but so many are still in a state of sleep, not awakened to the beauty of this new dawn. Our long awaited ascension is here already, and our reaction to this is either denial or fear.  Our resistance to being joyously ‘ME’, and our deep need to believe in external masters, prophets, gods, is the proof of our sleep state. And in this sleep state we deny the god that is ME…. and instantly deny the god that is YOU.

We fear Power, and therefore its external manifestation is often perceived as threatening, an attack, an unsafe place. But, my beautiful friend, it is not the power of another that you shy away from, but your own power. It is easier to be ignorant, it is safer to be dependant, it is comforting to cling to crutches and make excuses for the same.

But, you and I have grown, evolved, ascended… humanity is no more a conglomeration of the energies of mortal beings, but a United Energy of Divinely Human Beings, whom the Universe has honoured by placing into their hands the reins of their own past-present-future.

And how will we use these reins? Will we use these to go where we were not going earlier? Will we use these to direct others onto the path of godhood?  NO!! We will use these reins to be who we always were….only LARGER. We will use these reins to control the horse of unconscious habit of acting, reacting, thinking, feeling, blaming. We will use these reins to reclaim our Divine Human status.

And how will we do this? By the process of self awareness. By KNOWING, not only intellectually, that everything is about YOU.  By being conscious of the fact that all your reactions to another’s words and actions, is a replication of what you are doing to self. By being in gratitude to those who dare to cause you the discomfort which is a spur to your growth, instead of seeking the illusory comfort of those who allow you to be smaller than you are, because they do not know their own strength.  

Read the books you did earlier; listen to the teachers you heard earlier, but now in every word experience your wisdom, in every inspiration touch your divinity.

The Joy of Ascension is first manifest in our discomfort….yes, in our discomfort!! No shift this radical can ever be completely comfortable, no matter how much we have longed for it.

If you are reacting to the Universal push and prod to be your own god, if you are judging the power of another as aggression, if you are using your power aggressively, if you are choosing to demean others so that you can appear better to your eyes, then you know that the Joy of Ascension is already yours.

If you are feeling the thrill of freedom, if you are elated that now you have no exalted names to drop, save your own, if you enthusiastically meet all your mirrors without feeling the need to label them, then you know that the Joy of Ascension is already yours.

Yes, my beautiful friend, you have ascended whether you choose to believe this or hide away from its truth. Your imperfections have been your spur; your perfection has been your beacon.

The Joy of Ascension is waiting to be claimed and experienced by the haloed human…. YOU!
