Uncovering the Soul’s Purpose

Beloved friends, when I look around at the world, and see the challenge that these times present, I am not surprised that there are so many who wish to seek comfort (and yes, maybe escape) in short-lived amusements. I guess when inner peace and sense of attainment is absent, losing oneself in sensorial pleasures, does not seem such a bad option after all. And it would not be, if it could bring to the seeker the contentment he yearns for. The very fact that it does not, that after a while it all begins to seem empty, points out that the quest neither starts here nor ends there. 

Over the many years of spiritual service rendered, I have witnessed one of the happiest shifts in the questions put to me. Whether scaling up the corporate ladder, or toiling by the family hearth, all ask the same question of me. ‘What is my life’s purpose?’ The precedence that this question takes above all others dealing with relationships, money, career, and so on, tells me that Spirit within has awakened; many, many today are seeing the world through the eyes of the soul.  

Knowing our purpose gives us a sure direction to follow, even as the activities we are engaged in remain the same. We each have a well-defined path that the Spirit treads on its journey home, and though we may be unaware of this path, it is well-sewn into our divine blueprint. Though it would take a detailed preparation and study of your blueprint to tell you the exact nature of your purpose, a general but very strong indication can certainly be provided to you by the placement of the North Node in your natal chart. (There are many internet sites and books that provide you with accurate tables that reveal to you the placement of the North Node/True Node.) Becoming conscious of this purpose, adds a sense of ‘sacredness’ to the most mundane tasks that you might be involved in.

Whether you believe that God has taken form as you or within you, the awareness of your cosmic journey, instantly puts you in the flow of universal consciousness. You then shift to knowing yourself as the cosmic traveler rather than a mere mortal to whom things happen in life. You begin to see clearly that your soul has a very purpose-filled relationship with the events in your life. Life stops being seen as filled with trials and tribulations, but is welcomed as a movement into wholeness and fulfillment, with all tasks undertaken with a view to attaining the purpose. Each time you feel you are standing still, you have inner point of reference that guides you onwards.

Let me provide you with a brief look at your general purpose, and the hurdles you may have to surmount to reach there. Though these pertain primarily to the North Node, as seen from the soul’s point of view, the placement of the sun in these signs will provide a look at the vital step that you have to take NOW in order to reach that ultimate soul purpose. You may, thus, find it useful to read the purpose and the hurdle of the signs that contain both the Sun and the North Node.  

ARIES

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Initiator, bringing in new ideas that aid in global evolution

HURDLES: Egocentric bent; poor regard for the views and feelings of others; intellectual arrogance; need to be in constant activity; attention seeking

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: incorporate insights of others into your own so that there is balance; work hard to attain inner stillness and balance between personality and spirit; understand that your plan is not the divine plan, rather you are a part of the divine whole; develop humility, empathy and compassion

 
TAURUS

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Transmuter, using Inner Light to metamorphose material aims into spiritual goals

HURDLES: strong sensual desires; deep need for ego gratification in all activities/communication; easily swayed by flatterers; influenced by external beauty and appearance of refinement

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: self-restraint, self-discipline, purge the personality of lower desires, cultivate self-worth and self-acceptance 

GEMINI

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Agent of Human Relationships, building bridges of free and open communication and Love-directed interaction

HURDLES: emotional superficiality; lack of desire to forge an inner connection with the vital self; undeveloped ability to meet personal responsibilities; seeks fleeting experience with different facets of human life

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: develop a lasting relationship with the inner child/divine self, dare to go beyond the surface, undertake a program to develop intuition, develop acceptance of all 

CANCER

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Nurturer/Mother, bringing forth heart centered humanitarian transformation, inspiring all towards Universal Love and Oneness of all forms of Nature

HURDLES: strong compulsion to nurture arising out of a need to be nurtured, building emotional walls, assume too great a responsibility of others, impatience

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: uplift personal consciousness; learn means to nurture self; develop patience; let go of the past; be your own emotional anchor 

LEO

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Leader, leading humanitarian crusades, ushering in higher global consciousness 

HURDLES: unable to cooperate fully in team efforts; needs to shine and be a ‘star’; belief in personal intellectual/social/cultural superiority

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: become conscious of the ‘god’ in all; use personal talents in order to encourage creativity in others; purify the personality by infusing it with Universal Love 

VIRGO

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Server, working selflessly towards serving humanity with the aim of preparing the earth to receive higher energies 

HURDLES: lack of self-assertion; inability to initiate change; too caught up in personal attitudes, thoughts, and beliefs; over perfectionist with a need to control the environment

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: be open to change and newness; develop assertion; take a bold first step in humanitarian affairs 

LIBRA

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Balancer, working at world affairs and social welfare in order to facilitate the Divine Plan on Earth

HURDLES: easily imbalanced by external catalysts; selfish; difficulty in seeing the ‘other’ as part of oneself; lack of inner unity; needs praise and recognition; self-deceiving

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: occult training; balance intellectual mind and divine mind, personality and higher self, personal emotional needs and the needs of others; understand the Divine Plan and work in cooperation with it; learn to be giving and nourishing in relationships 

SCORPIO

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Warrior of the Light, actively releasing humanity from inner darkness and forces of unconscious compulsion

HURDLES: deep fears; needs to rescue others; deeply held by desires of the lower nature; extremes of emotions

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: undertake liberation from self-imprisonment by inner fears; turn the attention to higher will; consciously choose to soar (the golden falcon) rather than sting (the deadly scorpion); become a channel of healing and divine power; always choose the High Road 

SAGITTARIUS

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Torchbearer of Wisdom, illuminating the mind-field of humanity by promoting understanding of Life and the living

HURDLES: idealistic rather than practical; more concerned with personal resurgence than universal transformation; can ideate but not execute; attention seeking

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: develop acceptance of all cultures, religions, belief systems, ideologies and philosophies; be involved in conservation; merge head and heart 

CAPRICORN

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Provider, manifesting abundance and ensuring fair distribution of resources amongst all

HURDLES: biased and prejudiced; demands quid pro quo; materialistic; could lack persistence and guts to attain success

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: balance materialism and spiritualism; reject the belief in limitation and understand divine abundance; joyously accept practical responsibilities; persevere boldly   

AQUARIUS

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Revolutionary, using spiritual intelligence to cooperate with others and bring about global reforms

HURDLES: rigid and narrow focused; exclusive and separative in functioning; not open to suggestion and discussion; strongly held beliefs

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: seek solutions that are universal rather than partisan; be inclusive and embracing in your approach with all; be prepared to listen and compromise; give freedom to all to express their truth 

PISCES

PURPOSE: The Cosmic Healer, healing old wounds and blocked energies that hinder future evolution

HURDLES: emotional and mental confusion; need to be a ‘saviour’; denial and suppression; upset by change and challenge

HOW TO SURMOUNT THESE: self-reliance; wield divine power; heal inner child wounds; explore your strong psychic nature; embrace the new 

Dear friend, through this I have endeavored to awaken you to the way Divine Grace is acting through you, and what it demands of you. To make the most of this, take time to understand your connection to your goal, and how your career, relationships, and life’s responsibilities are helping you to reach there. Neither chide yourself nor be in any way ashamed about the hurdles you face, for we are all, all, together in this divine journey. Rather pay loving attention to these hurdles so that they are not your adversaries but your beacons of Light, urging you back onto the homeward stretch. Be not content with partial self-discovery, and each time you enlighten yourself with one truth, ask ‘What’s the next?’
