Before I Came Here My Soul Met Yours

Ellaeenah JadeFire

Before I came here,

before I had a name,

I said yes to some things

Tho’ I didn’t fully know the game.

I agreed to meet people,

to go through pain,

to learn things I could only learn

By walking through some rain.

Promises were made

in places without time—

I told someone,“I’ll help you remember.”

A dear friend said,

“I shall push you hard to climb.”

So I came. And so did they.

Not everything felt fair.

Some of it still hurts.

When they seem not to care.

But when I look closer, I see the reason.

Growth. Healing. Loving Me.

I can choose anew again

Now I’m starting to see.

Some contracts are complete.

Some I don’t need anymore.

I can say:

Thank you. I learned.

But we shall meet again for sure.

I came to grow,

To feel, to see,

To start remembering

Who is ME

Nothing to forgive, no hurt or fear:

I learned the lesson. I release it here.”

Now I choose what sets me free,

Not out of anger.

--- There’s deep peace.

With love, I close what I judged before,

And walk my journey –

Fettered no more.
