The Soul’s Curriculum: What Are You Really Here to Learn? -

Updated: Apr 24

This question has been playing on my mind for a while now. What am I truly here to learn? My soul blueprint certainly gave me many replies, but I kept feeling there has to be a deeper answer. So I searched for the answer in the one place I knew I’d find my truth — inside. The seat of my soul.

If life is indeed a school, as many say it is, then every person, moment, and challenge can be likened to a lesson plan. Some are obvious—like learning patience in traffic or forgiveness after betrayal. (Both of these have been profound lessons for me!) But the deeper question hides beneath the surface: What is my soul actually here to learn? I deeply believe that our lives with all their joy and heartbreak, are part of a divine syllabus uniquely crafted for our soul's evolution.

Thus I began to explore that.

Across spiritual traditions—from reincarnation to Eastern philosophies to soul contracts to metaphysical teachings—there’s a common theme: we have come here for more than survival or success. We have come to grow, remember, and refine who we are at the level of Soul.

Each lifetime is a semester at the University of the Universe — and you only repeat the class if the soul’s lesson hasn’t been fully absorbed. The curriculum isn’t standardised—it’s tailor-made, customised. Not by some cosmic bureaucracy, but by a deeper part of ‘me’, deeper part of ‘you’, that knows exactly what growth necessitates for each of us.

Preparing and reading through the hundreds of soul blueprint reports that I have created over decades, I am continually intrigued at how unique our journeys are, and how specific our soul blueprints can be. So, growth for me may look entirely different from the growth patterned for you by your soul.

I’ve also realised that this unique curriculum of our soul is not always comfortable. E.g. If your soul has come to learn strength, you might face abandonment. If it has come to learn compassion, you might meet cruelty. If it has come to learn trust, you may be plunged into uncertainty. Why? I wondered about this.

None of this is punishment. That I am certain of. There is no ‘punishment’. I waited for the answer. And then I got it! It’s the process of alchemy! This is the ‘lead into gold’ transformation that cosmic masters and teachers have often referred to! A sacred tension designed not to break you, but to stretch your ego energy till it can stretch no further, thus making place for spirit to take you to something truer. Not everyone may accept this view—and that's okay. For me this Ah-Ha moment shifted the narrative completely. From Why is this happening to me? to What is this trying to teach me?

So, the next logical question is, how do you know what you're here to learn? The clues are subtle, but constant:

Recurring Patterns: Notice what life keeps putting in front of you. Repeated challenges point to unlearnt lessons.

Emotional Hotspots: The things that trigger you deeply often reveal where your soul is most tender—and most ripe for growth.

What You Judge in Others: Sometimes, what irritates or inspires you in someone else is a mirror of what you’re being called to heal or cultivate within yourself.

Childhood Themes: Your early environment often sets the stage for the first chapters of your soul’s curriculum. What roles did you play in your family? What roles did the family play in your life? What wounds were planted early on?

When I relooked at my challenges from the perspective of ‘process of alchemy’ I understood clearly what my master, Jade Fire, has repeatedly emphasised: Nothing happens to you. Everything happens for you. The patterns, triggers, judgements, and childhood memories made perfect sense! They stretched my ego till it snapped! And silently spirit stepped in and drew me to my true self.

When you shift from “Why is this happening?” to “What is this teaching me?”, everything changes. Pain doesn’t disappear - it transforms. Purpose starts to emerge, even in suffering. And slowly, life becomes less about managing circumstances and more about mastering our inner world.

We are not here to “pass” some cosmic test or become perfect. We are here to participate fully in the process of alchemy. To show up for ourselves, reflect deeply, love fearlessly (big, big one for me!), and let life shape us. The goal isn’t to escape suffering, but to let it carve out wisdom from the experience . The point isn’t to avoid mistakes, but to grow through them.

This is the deepest truth that I was seeking - Our soul is here to remember its wholeness—through love, through challenge, and through awakening to our true nature. Every lesson, relationship, and experience is part of our unique journey toward spiritual mastery and inner freedom.

Before I sign off, let me ask you this -

What if the thing you're resisting is the very thing your soul came here to experience?

What if, by leaning in rather than running away, you unlock, not just healing, but profound transformation?

In the end, this was the answer to my question – What am I really here to learn?

I am here to learn how to love in all conditions, remember who I truly am, and awaken the divine within me.

For me that’s more than enough. What is your answer?
